NEXT MONTHLY MEETING

Our monthly meeting for March will be Thursday March 20th, 2014 with Ms. Maria Teresa Lensing, Vice President at AT&T.

Maria came to Memphis in 1993 from Peru, when her brother was undergoing treatment at St. Jude. She graduated from Christian Brothersand then from Harvard. She spent some time working in Iowa for Rockwell Collins. And, she returned to Memphis in November of 2011 to work for AT&T, where she is now a Vice President (one of the highest ranked employees in TN). In her current role Maria and her team are responsible for the growth and development of an $800M revenue stream for AT&T.

Maria has been awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from CBU, and has been listed on the Top 40 under 40 by the Memphis business journal last year!

Moreover, Maria has demonstrated in many ways that not only she is a bright and very accomplished professional, but also, she cares about the Community, and LOVES Memphis (there's actually a nice piece in the Commercial Appeal "I Choose Memphis" that I invite you to read).
For us at the NHPO, it is an honor to have Maria as a member of our Board of Directors

So, with this intro, I hope you get the picture that it is truly a unique opportunity to haveMaria speak to us next Thursday. She is a great inspiration, and a very humble and approachable person.

ABOUT NHPO-MEMPHIS

The National Hispanic Professional Organization, founded in 2004, came to Memphis in July 2009. That’s when over 60 Hispanic/Latino professionals from the Memphis and Mid-South legal, educational, small business, nonprofit, healthcare, realty, insurance, and corporate worlds to found NHPO-Memphis.  Shawn Wilkins, Sr. of State Farm convened the group and stressed the importance of professional development, his colleague Lisa Maples presented the initial business plan, and Joaquín Villarreal of FedEx shared an overview and call to action on mentoring and leadership..

In its first four years of existence, NHPO-Memphis has held leadership institutes, awarded college scholarships, recognized individual and organizational contributions to the local Hispanic/Latino community through awards banquets, held job fairs, provided professional development, and gathered dozens of times for monthly networking luncheons.
